Have a browse through our herd of beautiful alpacas here. There are five alpacas in the girls' herd and four in the boys' herd, as well as two crias (baby alpacas), being looked after with their mothers in the girls' herd.

Our Herd 
Alice
Age: 8 years old
Colour: Black
Alice is one of the very first alpacas that we brought to Dunswell. She is the friendliest and most sociable of our alpacas. She enjoys meeting new people and can often be found being cuddled and stroked. Alice is very protective of her herd and enjoys taking care of all the babies.
Melody
Age: 10 years old
Colour: Beige
‘Aunty' Melody is our most senior alpaca and came in our first group of alpacas with Alice. She is extremely independent but enjoys being in the middle of the herd, telling all the others what to do. Melody is also very opinionated; she is not very welcoming but will put up with ‘her' humans.
Henrietta
Age: 5 years old
Colour: White
Henrietta is another of the original three. Henrietta is a white alpaca; she produces a beautiful fleece which is dense and full of lustre. She is quiet and independent; she can often be seen grazing by herself and really doesn't like the baby alpacas bothering her.
Tarka
Age: 8 years old
Colour: Brown
Tarka is our brown alpaca who is 7 years old. Tarka is a very sweet, quiet alpaca who doesn't cause any fuss in the herd. She has been a super mum to two of our cria. Tarka is very curious about her humans but doesn't like human touch unless you have a bucket of feed with you then she becomes more sociable!
Hattie
Age: 6 years old
Colour: Beige
Hattie looks very light, but she is actually a beige colour. Hattie is very vocal and is always calling, which sounds like a humming noise. She is a very confident alpaca and is always first to the feed bucket, where she makes sure she gets more than her share, giving her great energy for our alpaca experience in East Yorkshire.
Inca
Age: 5 years old
Colour: Black
Inca is a very sweet yet independent alpacas. He is the greediest alpaca in the boys' herd and is extremely impatient when the feed is being shared. He is always the first one there and tries to shoo the younger boys away. Inca enjoys walking with visitors and happily plods along at the back during our alpaca experience in East Yorkshire, munching grass as he goes.
Jimmy
Age: 4 years old
Colour: Fawn
Jimmy is quite a tall alpaca and has a habit of staring into people's eyes. This can be quite intimidating, but he is sweet and gentle. When we are walking, people change their mind and by the end of the walk he is a firm favourite. He enjoys his walks and likes to be right in the middle so that he can keep an eye on the other members of his herd.
Santiago
Age: 2 years
Colour: Brown
Santiago was born on the 30th of June 2021 to Tarka. To begin with Santiago was a very quiet cria who wouldn't leave his mum's side but has come out of his shell now. He is becoming much more confident and happier around our visitors and is even taking part in a few walks. Santiago and Leo are very best friends.
Leo
Age: 2 years
Colour: Bay Black
Leo was born on the 28th May 2021 to Alice. Leo was our very fist cria born at Dunswell Alpacas. He is such as sweet boy and is very gentle and inquisitive with everyone he meets. He is very energetic and loves to run around the field with his best friend Santiago. He is a quiet unassuming alpaca who gets on with other members of the herd and we are now introducing him to some alpaca walking.
Eric
Age: 1 year
Colour: Light Rose Grey
Eric was born on 30th June this year and his mum is Tarka. Though his dad is a light grey and his mum is brown, his fleece is a mix of both and has come out as a light rose grey colour with a white face. Eric is full of mischief and always running around the paddock at speed. His favourite pastime is antagonising the other alpacas in the group and generally being a nuisance to them.
Squiggles
Age: 1 year
Colour: White, with a little beige patch on his leg.
Squiggles was born on 26th June 2022 and his mum is Hattie. Squiggles and his mum are the newest members of Dunswell Alpacas. Squiggles is a very confident and inquisitive cria. He is the first to come and greet you when you go into the paddock and loves cuddles. He is happy for us to stroke him and is very popular with visitors, especially the young visitors.
Penelope
Age: Less than a year, born 3rd August 2023
Colour: Grey
Penelope is Tarka's cria, her sire is a light grey colour. She is the biggest of our three cria, she weighed 9.4 kg when she was born. She is full of life and always wanting the other two cria to play with her. When it comes to humans she is the shy one, she will come over to us but still not sure about us yet.
Matilda
Age: Less than a year, born 9th August 2023
Colour: Black
Matilda is Alice's cria and weighed 8.2 kg when she was born. She initially didn't do a lot when she was born. Crias usually start running around quickly after birth but she just chilled with her mum most of the time and just stayed by her mum's side. She's more active now, and although not as confident around humans as her mum, she is happy to come and see us.
Noah
Age: Less than a year, born 23rd August 2023
Colour: White
Noah is Hattie's cria. He was the smallest of the cria at 7 kg. He is very confident around his herd and around humans and is now eating out of our hands. He is still the littlest of the cria but he is the most bossy and loves chasing around the paddock with the the other crias.
